printable version taman sari zoo bandung

Taman Sari Zoo is usually a favourite place for local group visits and local school visits. Though this 15-hectare (37 acre) zoo was built in 1930, many people would recommend Taman Safari Indonesia, instead of going to this zoo. Taman Safari (Safari Park), which was built much later in 1980, is located approximately between Jakarta and Bandung on a mountainous area called Puncak (/poon-tjâk/).

Currently this Bandung zoo has about 1135 animals (of more than 213 species - such as bears, birds, monkeys, tigers, rhinos and so on), a local standard of amusement park, a pond, an elephant riding facility. And a small museum (currently closed for renovation).

In 2005 the government did lab research to check whether or not the zoo was affected by bird flu virus. Although the findings were negative, a continuous regular measurement and vaccination has been done since.

Located just across Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), this zoo might be an alternative destination after visiting ITB.
