Doha Zoo

The zoo, which is currently closed (under long-term renovation and set to reopen in 2017), is located in the southwestern part of the city. Before closing its doors for the renovation, the zoo has more than 1500 animals of more than 150 species from around the world and occupies an area of slightly more than 40 hectare (98 acres). Though the current size and numbers of animals are actually not too big, compared to many zoos in big cities in the world. However it can be quite entertaining for local residents.

Doha zoo has a few kinds of animals, such as birds, fishes, giraffe, monkeys, snakes, and one elephant. Apart from animals, it has also a little entertainment facilities for children, one of them is a “train” that goes around the zoo at a cost of QAR 5 for adult and QAR 3 for children. Train waiting time plus the tour takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

Hello Jesselyne, thank you for your visit to our website. Unfortunately at this stage no official statement on the reopening of the zoo. You may see camels in the Zouq Waqif area or go to the dunnes for more camels.

Dear Sir,

Good morning,

I would like to know if the zoo will open this year? Is there any alternative place that we can see the animals and their locations. Thank you for your reply in advance..

Hi Dierra, many thanks for the question. The zoo is still closed for a major renovation and expansion. Expect a few years to be ready again.

Thank you for your visit too to our website.
