AIRPORT TAX . Airport tax, which is payable by passengers at the airport, varies from one airport to another. International departure airport tax starts from Rp. 75,000 to Rp. 150,000 and Rp. 25,000 to 40,000 for passengers travelling on domestic routes.
CURRENCY. The Indonesian currency is Rupiah (Rp). Approximate exchange rate (sell to bank) for US$1 is Rp.11,000, £1 for Rp.16,500, €1 buys Rp.15,000, ¥1 for Rp.120. CLIMATE. Basically there are only two seasons: wet (average rainfall can be more than 300 mm/month, some regions can be as high as 600s mm/month), usually around December to May and dry (average rainfall varies about 50mm/month), around June to November. INTERNET ACCESSIBILITY. Public internet access can be easily found in warnets (the Indonesia's version of internet cafes). Connections are also available through satellites, mobile phone access and Wi-Fi. Some areas in big cities are also covered by wireless hotspots. There were 25 millions internet users in Indonesia in 2008 (an estimation by the Internet World Stats).

RELIGIONS. About 88% of the people in Indonesia are Muslims, Christians stand at 9% and the rest are Hinduism, Buddhism and others. Christianity is the predominant religion in mostly eastern part of Indonesia, eg. Toraja, Manado, Timor, Papua, etc, while in Bali Hinduism is the predominant religion.
VISA REQUIREMENT. The citizens of Brunei, Chile, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam are granted visa-free facility for a maximum of 30 days visit.
Visa-on-arrival (VOA) is applicable to the citizens of Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Czech Rep, China, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Laos, Latvia, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Maldives, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
Visa-on-arrivals are available at airports: Jakarta-Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Halim, Balikpapan-Sepinggan Airport, Bandung-Husein Sastranegara, Batam-Hang Nadim, Denpasar-Ngurah Rai, Kupang-El Tari, Manado-Sam Ratulangi, Makassar-Hassanudin Airport, Mataram/Lombok-Selaparang, Medan-Polonia, Padang-Tabinga, Pekanbaru-Sultan Syarif Kasim II, Semarang-A Yani, Solo-Adi Sumarmo, Surabaya-Juanda International and Yogyakarta-Adi Sucipto. They are also available at seaports: Batam, Kupang-Tenau, Makassar-Soekarno Hatta, Manado-Bitung, Medan-Belawan Port, Bali-Benoa and Padang Bai, North Sumatra-Sibolga, Jakarta-Tanjung Priok, Jayapura, Padang-Teluk Bayur, Surabaya-Tanjung Perak and Tanjung Pinang-Sri Bintan Pura.
Visitors have to obtain this visa first at VOA counters upon arrival, just before the immigration counters. Depending on the number of passengers, there might be a long queue at these VOA counters. One week visit visa costs US$10 and 30-day visa costs US$25. Day of arrival is counted as day one and this type of visa is non extendable.
