JALAN CIHAMPELAS

This street is famous for its factory outlets. Since 1980’s, Jalan Cihampelas is known as "jeans street" because there are plenty of fashion jeans shops. It is situated at about 5 kilometers [3.1 miles] from the Alun-alun (the City Square) or about 2 kilometers [1.24 miles] from Bandung main train station. Previously famous only for its blue jeans, shops at Jl Cihampelas now sell various fashion products for men and women.

Stores at Jalan Cihampelas have some unique features, such as huge superheroe statues in front of the stores. Moreover, some of them have even had famous or important foreign guests. Along the street, you also will find stalls selling local food, souvenirs, and so on. Jalan Cihampelas usually busy every day and crowded on weekends.

JALAN DAGO/Jalan Ir. H. Juanda

Jalan Ir. H. Juanda or also known as Jalan Dago is known as one of the iconic areas in Bandung. This road is considered quite comfortable for pedestrians, a road with decent pedestrian sidewalks under a line of big shady treeswith many open-air restaurants and cafes. Jalan Dago is famous for its factory outlets, and hotels as well. It also has a wide variety of public facilities, such as hospital, banks and money changers, minimarkets, pharmacies, and even colleges. Therefore that Jalan Dago has become a one stop holiday for many tourists from around Indonesia, especially from Jakarta, as well as foreigners.

Usually Jalan Dago will be crowded on weekends, especially by teenagers. You can find many food stalls selling grilled bananas and corns, motorcycle communities hanging out on the roadside, group of teenages and if you are lucky, you might also see famous Indonesian singers “singing on the traffic lights”, and many more. Every Sunday morning, Jalan Dago or Jalan Ir. H. Juanda is closed for cars as it is the Dago Car Free Day, a weekly event adapted from the Jakarta Car Free Day’s event.


JALAN RIAU/Jalan R.E. Martadinata

Jalan R.E. Martadinata joins the other streets as destination for shopping in Bandung as one of the shopping destinations in kota Bandung (city of Bandung). Many people believe it is slowly taking over Jl Cihampelas as Bandung's favorite factory outlets street. The prices are more expensive but they have better quality products. Here, some products are bargainable, some are not (anyway no harm trying to bargain!). A few well known factory outlets at Jl. R.E. Martadinata are Heritage, Terminal Tas, Oasis, The Secret, The Summit, and so forth.

Moreover, there are a lot of hotels and restaurants along this street. Public facilities such as ATMs, pharmacies, hospital are also available here. Along the street, you will find stalls selling local food, souvenirs, and so on. On weekdays, Jl. R.E. Martadinata will usually be crowded only in certain areas. While on weekend, the whole streets will usually be crowded and there will also be diversion routes set up for traffic.

Halo Anto, terima kasih untuk komentarnya. Mungkin waktu kesana Jalan Cibaduyut lagi dalam perbaikan. Sekarang ini sudah bagus jalannya dan jauh lebih lancar.

Kalau mau lebih lancar lagi, sebaiknya hindari akhir pekan. Kalau harus kesana saat akhir pekan, sebaiknya pagi hari sebelum jam 12. Selamat berkunjung kembali ke Jalan Cibaduyut :).

It depends on your needs. Jl. Riau has plenty of good factory outlets, while Jl Cihampelas normally has less good quality products to buy (but of course they are cheaper or I could say "good value for money" - at least to many people). Happy shopping Christian and Marie!
