Aroma Pabrik & Toko Kopi (Aroma Factory and Coffee Shop)

This shop, run since 1930 by an Indonesian Chinese family. Initiated by Tan Houw Sian and currently managed by Widya Pratama, the owner. It is said that their coffees are chemical free. Their coffees are brought directly from coffee plantations in Aceh, Medan, Lampung, Java, Flores and Toraja.

The Robusta coffee can be stored for about 5 years and 8 years for the Arabica coffee. Aroma coffee factory and shop has been using the same old machine for processing their coffee since 1930, using firewood and no chemical added. They make their coffee as natural as it can be.

How to get there : by angkot: take the "Gd. Bage"-"St. Hall" angkot and get off in front of the BRI Banceuy (bank) office. The Aroma shop is about 100 meters (109 yards) from there. Other option is by short walking from Pasar Baru to Aroma Factory and Coffee Shop (it will take about 5 minutes)
Remarks : visitor can visit the factory when the owner (Mr. Widya Pratama) is present. It is suggested to call in advance before 12pm to organize the visit with maximum of 15 people.

DenHaag Klapertaart

DenHaag, which was opened in 2005, sells the famous the Dutch klapertaart, and among the most popular flavours sold in the store are: the original and the cheese klapertaart.

Remarks : cash, debit and credit card payments are accepted. The shop is quite small, so you have to pay a close attention when trying to find it along Jl. Ir. H. Juanda. Elina Keramik

Elina Keramik is a ceramic workshop and gallery producing souvenirs from clay since 2001. Their products are handmade fashion accessories, interior and exterior decorations, and daily used products, such as glasses, tea pots, ashtrays, and so on. They also provide product design with the typical images of Bandung, such as Gedung Sate, "batik", and so forth.

In here, visitors can also see the manufacturing process of ceramics, which consist of some techniques (molding, slab, twist), the combustion process, and the coloring process (glazing).

Remarks : it is suggested to make a prior appointment with them for a group visit with more than 20 persons.

Galeri Cupumanik - Wayang Golek Gallery

Cupumanik Gallery was founded by H. Herry Hermawan in 1980. Graduated from the Faculty of Art and Design, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Herry Hermawan is an artist who interested in scupltures. He built his workshop and gallery to accommodate the crafters from around Purwakarta, Jawa Barat. In 1987, Herry Hermawan received the Upakarti Award for his dedication on Sundanese culture from the then Indonesian President Soeharto.

Today, the gallery is managed by his doughter, Ms. Shanty and has around 40 employees. Their wayang puppets is well known either in Bandung or other regions in Indonesia, such as Surabaya, Bali, Yogyakarta, and so on. Apart from that, they also sell many kinds Sundanese crafts, such as angklung miniatures, gamelans, and many more. Price ranges of wayang golek are start from Rp. 50,000 to Rp. 3,000,000.

How to get there : The access road to Jalan/Gang Haji Akbar is via Jalan Kebonkawung (just north of Bandung main train station), approx. 250 meters (273 yards) from Jalan Pasirkaliki or 400 meters (437 yards) from Jalan Cicendo (or the Governor's house - Gedung Pakuan)
By angkot: take the one to "St Hall" or main train station, inform the driver that you want to go to Jalan Kebonkawung. For instance, from Setrasari mall take an angkot heading to St.Hall and get off in front of Jalan (Gang) Haji Akbar (fare: Rp. 2,500, about 20-minute journey)
Remarks : visitors can watch how the employees manufacture wayang golek. Cash payment only. The maximum number of visitors are 50 guests.

Gallery Tatarah

Galeri Tatarah was founded in 1935 and it is renowned for its naturalist paintings. It has been run from generation to generation. Today Mr. Bagja Wijatma, the third generation of the family, is in charge of the gallery. Galeri Tatarah collects many paintings, either from Bandung or from other regions in Indonesia. They have also old paintings made in the 1920’s in their shop.

Domestic and foreign tourists from France, Germany, USA, and Japan, as well as art collectors have ever come here. Usually they look for naturalist paintings, such as the Mount Merapi (1965) and other beautiful paintings. Apart from paintings, Galeri Tatarah also sells Indonesia and Indian gems.

Jabar Craft Center

Jabar Craft Center is owned and run by the West Java Provincial Government and established in August 2006. This shop sells souvenirs, such as wayang golek, angklung, batik, ceramics, and so on and apart from a shop, Jabar Craft Center also acts as a promotion and information center for West Java Province.

Jalu Braga

Jalu Braga offers a wide range of paintings made by local artists, from contemporary painters, abstract, expressionist to the naturalist. Jalu Braga also sells handicrafts. Some artists also offers face painting sketches, which costs around Rp. 100,000 to Rp. 8,500,000 for portrait painting.
