Kain Cual (‘Cual’ Fabric)

Kain CualKain Cual is a woven fabric that has colorful motives of animals or plants. Reputedly, the cloth is originated from Mentok and was used by noblemen originating from there. This is why locals call it ‘cual Mentok’.

As time goes by, Kain Cual has become apart of traditional clothes of most people in Bangka. Cual cloth has silk as its main fabric. It is traditionally woven made, with one strand yard of 18 rust gold for 1 kilogram fabric. Nowadays, a cheaper ‘Cual Mentok’ fabric is available, though with different quality of silk and gold thread.

Pewter Bangka

Pewter BangkaFamous for its tin, the island of Bangka is also known for its tin related products, like tin daily things: ashtrays, pots, ship models, etc.

Akar Bahar/’Bahar Root'

Akar BaharAkar Bahar is a kind of coral that can be found in seabed. The craftsmen usually shape the root and combine it with gold into variant jewelry, such as necklace, bracelets, earrings, etc.

Pasar PagiPasar Pagi is often visited by locals for their daily shopping. Among the popular shops: Toko Kue Atet, selling traditional snacks or biscuits, such as panada, pempek, bolu kukus (steamed cake), kue lapis, etc and drink like tew su fui (soy milk).
