Warung Tekko

This restaurant is famous for its “Iga Penyet” (fried short ribs served with “sambal terasi” or shrimp paste chili sauce) and “Konro Bakar Saus Madu” (Honey BBQ Back Ribs), as well as “es cincau kelapa” (black grass jelly mixed with young coconut). Starting its bussines in 2010 in Batam, Warung Tekko is mostly visited both from locals and foreigners, such as from Japan and Singapore. This restaurant opens also in other cities in Indonesia, such as in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Medan.

Resto Saung Sunda Sawargi

This restaurant was established in 2005 in Batam and specializes themselves in Sundanese dishes, such as “gurami bakar” (grilled carp-fish), kakap bakar (grilled snapper), as wll as Sundanese cakes, surabi (a Sundanese pancake with chocolate, cheese, or strawberry jam as a topping), and so on. Resto Saung Sunda Sawargi has a Sundanese architecture design building, which mostly uses bamboos and wooden for its exteriors and interiors. In 2012 they expanded to Johor, Malaysia. This restaurant so far has noted a few Indonesian artists as its visitors, such as Melly Goeslaw (singer), Tommy Kurniawan (actor), Samson (group band. Apart from local visitors, foreign tourists are also a common view to the restaurants, such as from Malaysia and Singapore , especially on weekend.

RM & Seafood Rezeki

This is a well known seafood restaurant in Batu Besar. Their favorite menus are “gonggong rebus”, chili crabs, stir fried crab with oyster, etc. Visitors can choose and grab their chosen fish directly from the fish aquariums/tanks, and then give the fish to the restaurant staff to cook as you want. RM & Seafood Rezeki is located in Batam coastline where some parts of the building is built over the sea. The building can accommodates 200 visitors.

Kak Dadut Resto

Kak Dadut Resto adopts a Balinese architecture building and is decorated with wooden interiors and ornaments. Once you enter the restaurant you will see a traditional “Balinese gate”, Balinese sculptures, and a gazeboo located right on the left side of the restaurant. Kak Dadut Resto specializes themselves in Balinese dishes, such as chicken or fish in “taliwang or betutu” recipes, jimbaran grilled fish, and “beberok teri” (fried billis fish with fresh chilis, onions, and tomatos).

This is another famous seafood restaurant in town. They serve a wide range of seafood, such as “sotong goreng tepung”, udang goreng mentega, kepiting saus tiram. As for drinks, dragon fruit juice will be one good option for you. Every night at 7:30pm, there will be a live music performance in the main area of the restaurant.

Located in Waterfront City area, this seafood restaurant is well known among foreigners and expatriates. The restaurant’s favorite menus are black pepper crabs, Hongkong steamed fish, and so on. Delima Resto has an open area, which is located in front of the restaurant and facing the sea.

Dapur Unik

Golden Fish Seafood Restaurant is well known for its steamed golden fish and ”kepiting telur asin” (salted egg-crabs). The restaurant can accomodate up to 500 people and has a beautiful panorama of “Jembatan” (bridge) Barelang on the background. They import the golden fishes from Australia and all seafood are taken fresh from the aquariums. Barelang Seafood Restaurant is another big and well known seafood restaurant along the Trans Barelang road. This restaurant specializes in seafood, such as crab with ”Padang sauce”, lobster with butter, and fish with sweet spicy sauce, as their favorite menus. The restaurant occupies a big building, which can accomodate up to 2000 persons. Similar to Golden Fish Seafood Restaurant, they also have fresh seafood taken from the fish tanks. You can choose and pick your own fish from the tanks and then give it to the restaurant staff to be cooked. Malaysian, Singaporean, and Western tourists are also commonly seen here, as well as local tourists.

RM Mask Sembilang was founded by Maimunah or reknown as Mak Munah in 1995. This “rumah makan” is famous for its “ikan sembilang asam pedas” or sour-and-spicy sembilang fish and “sotong masak hitam” (squid in black ink). “Teh obeng” or local ice tea is also available here. This restaurant occupies a wooden building located near Tanjung Riau harbour, Batam. RM Mak Sembilang is often visited by locals and tourists.
