Traditional Markets

There are two major traditional markets in Doha, fruit-vegetable market and fish-meat market. Both are located next to each other, in the southwestern part of Doha, along Wholesale Market Street (near Salwa Road). Until today, these two markets are not really considered as part of Doha tourist attractions. They mostly provide local residents’ needs who buy in bulk.

Most of the time malls are quite convenience during weekdays but can be crowded on weekends. Car parking is currently still free of charge. A few of shopping malls in Doha are listed below.

Location : Wholesale Market St
Opening hours : daily, from early morning till late afternoon; closed from about 11am to around 4pm and on Friday
Admission charges : free
Nearby facilities : traffic police station
How to get there : own transportation is recommended
Remarks : cash payment only. Limited English spoken by sellers.

Souqs

There are plenty of souqs in Doha, such as Gold Souq, Souq Al Siery, Souq Faleh, Souq Al Badi. Gold Souq mostly sells gold (18-24 carat), pearls, jewelries and many other related souvenirs. Other souqs sell different kinds of goods, such as clothes (lower-mid end customers), mini/supermarket, restaurants, electronics, and other local needs.

Opening hours : around 9:30am-12:30pm, 5pm-9:30pm
Admission charges : free
Facilities : ATMs, restaurants
Nearby attractions : Fanar, Museum of Islamic Art, Souq Waqif, the Corniche
Remarks : some shops accept credit card payment.
