"Pekan Apresiasi Teater"
"Pekan Apresiasi Teater" or literally means Theater Appreciation Week is a biannual event held by Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Padang Panjang. This year, the event will be held for 6 days long, starting from 15 October to 20 October 2012 and consists of 3 programs: theater show, seminar, and workshop. West Sumatera Culture Week 2012
This is an annual event that will be held by the West Sumatera provincial government. The West Sumatera Culture Week 2012 will feature traditional art performances, games, exhibition, and so on. The event will be participated by the delegation teams from all cities in West Sumatera. Padang International Dragon Boat X Festival
Padang International Dragon Boat X Festival is an annual event organized by Padang city government, which will be held on 12-15 July 2012, starting from 7am. Apart from boat racing competition, all boats will also be decorated and painted with attractive colors. The festival will be attended by Paddle Sports Association of Indonesia (PODSI), teams from other provinces in Indonesia, as well as 11 international teams, such as from China, Hongkong, Australia, Canada, and others. Padang Panjang Expo 2012
The government of Padang Panjang City will organize "Padang Panjang Expo 2012" on 26-30 June 2012 at GOR Khatib Sulaeman Bancah Laweh, Padang Panjang. Padang Panjang is located about 72 kilometers from Padang city. This annual event consists of arts festival, trades and industries expo, West Sumatera flora exhibition, floats parade, music performances, and many more. Don't miss it!
"Pentas Seni Stasiun Keroncong" ("Keroncong" Station Arts Performance)
"Pentas Seni Stasiun Keroncong" is a traditional art performance which will present keroncong music (Indonesian music traditional) in a classical way at Sawahlunto Station (about 90 kilometers away from Padang). Even though it is quite far away from Padang's city center, but it will be worth for historical tourisms, especially for those who love historical buildings and old trains. The keroncong performance itself will beautifully be blended with its historical atmosphere. "Menjemput Masa Lalu Bersama Keroncong" or literally means "Meet the Past with Keroncong Music" is the event's topic. "Pentas Seni Stasiun Keroncong" will be held on 23 June 2012, from 7:40pm. Apart from keroncong music performance, there are also barongsai show, Kuda Kepang dance (a Malay traditional dance), etc. Come and meet the old time of Indonesia!
Padang Culinary Cooking Competition
There will be a Padang culinary cooking competition, which will be held on 9 June 2012 at Padang Beach area. The participants will be asked to cook Padang traditional food, such as "Lemang" (made from sticky rice and cooked in bamboo), "Kukua Karambia" (grate the coconut), "Samba Lado" (green chili sauce), and "Pinang Mudo" juice (young betel nut juice). This Padang Culinary Cooking Competition is a part of Siti Nurbaya Festival that will be held until 11 June 2012 in Padang. The festival consists of many attractive events, such as Padang traditional dances and music competitions, etc., and will be followed by representative teams from 104 villages in Padang.
"Randai" Competition
"Randai" Competition will be held on 8 June 2012 at Gelanggang Silieh Baganti, Padang. "Randai" is a traditional Minangkabau theatre show that combines drama, music, dances, and pencak silat (an Indonesian traditional martial art). This show usually tells about Minangkabau?s folklores. So, don?t miss it!
Tour de Singkarak 2012
Finally, Tour de Singkarak 2012 will be held again this year in Padang! This annual event will be conducted on 4-10 June 2012, starting from Sawahlunto to Muaro Sijunjung, Harau - Payakumbuh, Istano Basa - Sicincin Anai Golf, Bukittinggi - Padang Panjang, Singkarak - Pariaman, Painan - Padang Circuit Race. Eighteen international teams, such as from Japan, Iran, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, etc. and seven Indonesian teams will participate here. Sarantau Sasurambi Festival
Sarantau Sasurambi Festival is an annual event held by Department of Tourism, Cultural, Youth, and Sports South Solok. This festival consists of many programs, such as culture parade, kids art performances, dance competitions, exhibition, as well as Uda Uni competition (a local Mister and Miss Solok pageant). Sarantau Sasurambi Festival will be held on 10-13 May 2012 at two places in Solok, the district office of South Solok and PGRI Hall, Department of Education of South Solok.

Agriculture in Art and Creative is an event held by students of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Andalas, Padang. Japanese Cultural Week
This festival is presented by the students of University of Andalas Padang (locally renowned as UNAND) and will be held on 3-4 April 2012 at auditorium of UNAND. Japanese Cultural Week is consists of many competitions, such as 'Rodoku' (story telling), quiz, 'Shuji' (writing Kanji) and Kana (vocabulary) for high school student participants, while dance competition, cosplay, j-style, singing contest, origami, and so on are for public participants. Apart from that, there will be Nihon Shinbuyou (Japanese traditional dance), aikido demonstration, bazaar, mini theater, and exhibition. So don?t miss it!
Nusantara Melayu Raya (Numera) Poets Gathering
This international event will be held on 16-18 March 2012 and consists of many attractive programs, such as poetry contest on 14 March 2012, international seminar, book launch and bazaar, ?musicalitation? poetry, traditional music performances, literature tours, and many more. Numera Poets Gathering will take place in some places in Padang, such as at Taman Budaya Sumatera Barat.
