As the capital city of Cambodia, Phnom Penh provides its visitors with many types of accommodation, ranging from backpackers style to luxury hotels, from below ten US dollars to hundreds of US dollars a night.
There are many backpacker accommodations located around Boeung Kak lake, along Street 93 (just to the east of the lake), but many people are concerned with their future since the lake is currently being reclaimed. Other hotels are well spread within the city.
Major hotels are easily booked through the internet and widely accept credit cards (mostly Visa or Master Card), while small hotels or accommodations might only accept cash for transactions. It is also recommended to book your room in advance to avoid fully booked conditions or paying for published room rates (which are often higher than advance booking), as well as to get benefits such as arranging for your pick up (if available).
