"Kilang Minyak" Balikpapan/Stray tankers and offshore oil rigs
The "Kilang Minyak" lies on a 2.5 square kilometer area but unfortunately it is not open to public. This is a protected area and surrounded by fences. It processes both refined and non-refined oil for Indonesia, especially for the eastern parts of Indonesia. The site was originally built in 1922 but destroyed during the Second World War and rebuilt in 1950.
However, visitors can see the tankers beyond its parameters, from the road around the complex.
