Rantepao is considered as the most strategic place to start exploring Tana Toraja, where most of the places of interest are located in north Toraja. Rantepao also has more hotels or guesthouses than other towns in Tana Toraja, however 4-star hotels or better are very limited.
Some major hotels can be booked through the internet and accept credit card payment, while small hotels or accommodation accept only cash in Rupiah for transactions.
