Quite often people who work in downtown Manado go to Tondano Lake to have lunch, especially if they have guests. Beautiful views, a pleasant climate and fresh fish from the lake make people keep coming back just to have lunch on "floating restaurants" on the lake.
Many restaurants, warungs and rumah makans in Manado or Minahasa highlands do not accept electronic payments at all, so be ready with cash in hand. However, since food is relatively cheap, you do not have to worry about keeping millions of rupiahs in your wallet. Though they do not serve any liquors, some of them might sell beers. Tipping is not a common practice and generally not required, unless you are happy to do so. Some restaurants apply a service charge, normally up to a maximum of 10%.

Danau Tondano Restaurant
This is one of the first and most well known restaurants on Tondano Lake. It’s a floating restaurant on the lake and has a freshwater fish pond inside so the visitors can see the freshwater fish like ‘mujair’.
