Land Transportation To Tana Toraja

By Bus From Makassar - Daya Terminal

Transportation to Toraja inlandThis is the main terminal of inter-state bus services in Makasar (that link Makassar and Toraja too) and there is an entrance fee of Rp. 500 per person. However, there is only one company that departs for Rantepao (in Tana Toraja) from this terminal, which is Litha. Other bus companies depart from their "own terminal" (see below).

Click any picture on this page for more and bigger photos.

Arriving at Daya Terminal, don't be surprised to see people coming towards you and asking to offer “helps” to carry your bags, especially if you are coming in a taxi. You might need their help if you have many bags, although this “help” will cost you about Rp. 10,000 for a short walk.

The only bus company, Litha, has a ticket office inside the terminal, so you need to pay the entrance fee to go in. Litha bus services to Rantepao start at 10am at a cost from Rp 80,000 one way.

Note: expect to pay more since the fuel prices had been adjusted (ie. more expensive :)

I have heard there is a new bus company that has started the Makassa Toraja run using really modern comfortable buses with recliner seats targeting the foreign traveller. Does anyone know the prices and departure/ arrival schedules of the bus company?
